GPS L1 주파수를 이용한 GBAS CAT-II/III 기술(GAST-D) 개발 동향

The Ground-Based Augmentation System (GBAS) is a GNSS augmentation technology that provides aircraft with precision approach service and precise positioning service around airport. GBAS that has been developed by some countries since 1990"s had faced with many difficulties to enter the final stage of commercialization, but at last, Honeywell’s SLS-4000 received GBAS category I (CAT-I) System Design Approval from FAA in September 2009. Since then, many countries, such as Germany, US, Australia, Spain, Brazil and Switzerland had installed the system into their airports and begun operating it for the commercial service or for establishing their operational procedure and certification process through evaluation of the system. And some leading countries are taking their efforts on the research and development of GBAS CAT-II/III technology and the prototype system, in parallel with the study on the advanced operation procedure through the continued application of GBAS CAT-I ground system. This paper presents major features of GAST-D system which is the GBAS CAT-II/III system technology based on GPS L1 frequency, worldwide activities and trends of the related technology research focusing on the US and Europe.
