Giant hydropic uterine leiomyoma in pregnancy: unusual sonographic and Doppler appearance.

The pathologic finding of focal hydropic degeneration within uterine fibroids is not uncommon) We present a case of a second trimester pregnancy complicated by a giant uterine leiomyoma, which ap· peared sonographically as a solid mass with numerous cystic spaces that pathologically were shown to represent edema between normal, benign smooth muscle cells. The sonographic features and Doppler flow pattern of this mass were extremely unusual and led us to an erroneous consideration of a malignant ovarian condition.
