Neural network based systems for prostate cancer stage prediction

Artificial neural networks were applied to the problem of predicting whether a newly diagnosed prostate cancer is organ-confined, a critical factor in determining the treatment strategy. An effective and easy to use staging index was developed and probability estimates with confidence intervals were derived.
