Genetic algorithm-based boundary extraction of plaque in intravascular ultrasound image

A novel method for plaque boundary extraction in an intravascular ultrasound image is proposed. The present method is based on a genetic algorithm with a fitness function of a statistical discriminant measure. Fine extraction results are obtained without any medical doctor's expert knowledge.
