3D Subband Codec with Full Scalability

Over heterogeneous networks the multimedia transmissions are required more flexibility in video codec. That is to say video codec should have scalability. Scalability is referred to that the encoded bitstream can be decoded partly and the reconstruction video quality is proportional to the received amount of information. In order to get the full video scalability-including in temporal, spatial and PSNR, this paper proposed a method of scanning order for scalability based on SPIHT principles to organize the spatiotemporal coefficients to a embedded bitstream of bitplane. A video codec based on 2D+t subband wavelet analysis were designed to get a embedded bitstream with full scalability.
