A method of detecting the authenticity of an RFID transponder

A method of detecting the authenticity of an RFID transponder, which is assigned a unique identification number which is read directly for example stored in the memory module of the RFID transponder and read out of, or on the RFID transponder, comprising the following steps: a) the identification number is encrypted using a first key, wherein it is provided for encrypting a private key, b) the encrypted identification number is stored in the RFID transponder, c) the stored in the RFID transponder encrypted identification number is decrypted with a second key being provided for the decryption, a public key, and d) it is checked whether the decrypted matches identification number with the non-encrypted identification number.
