Two-Terminal Network Elements

This chapter will set the stage for the rest of this book. We will start by discussing what is the aim of circuit theory, what are the fundamental circuit variables, and when the techniques in this book are valid: the lumped circuit approximation holds (frequencies of interest are not too high). We will discuss the concepts of Kirchhoff’s laws, basic circuit topology, Tellegen’s theorem, and two-terminal circuit elements.
