Effects of Revised Ammunition Reloading Procedures on Reload Time for the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle

Abstract : The Bradley Fighting Vehicle must be reloaded in the shortest possible time because none of the weapon systems can be fired while the turret is in the reload position. Any reduction in time affects vehicle survivability. Modifications to the Bradley's reload equipment and procedures were tested with the following results: (1) shorter reload time: (2) greater number of rounds carried; (3) fewer personnel required to perform the task; and (4) simplified training. Results indicate further tests are merited. Keywords: Ammunition reload procedures, Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, Army training, 25mm ammunition, 25mm cannon, 7.62 coaxial machine gun.
