An Adaptive Symbol Timing Synchronization Method for Multi-Mode & Multi-Service Software Radio Communications System

This paper proposes a symbol timing synchronization method for a multi-model and multi-service software radio receiver. The method is free of redundant hardware, it can set an arbitrary system clock for the target systems' symbol rates, it can reduce the implementation time for digital signal processing hardware, as well as reducing the memory burden in the radio receiver. The method is suitable for applications in Global Positioning System (GPS), automated toll collection (ATC), and cellular radio.
