Output Voltage Compensation Method of Matrix Converter Based on Voltage-based Commutation

A compensation method for output voltage of matrix converter was proposed. The output voltage error caused by voltage-based commutation process was analyzed and the effect of switch parasitical capacitance in commutation process was emphasized. It's pointed out that the charging and discharging processes of the parasitical capacitors in commutation process will extend the rising time of the switching device voltage drop, and it makes the actual voltage error less than the theoretical ones. The general function of output voltage error in commutation process was presented considering parasitical capacitors. The output voltage compensation method was then proposed considering the on-state voltage drop of the switching devices. The proposed strategy can not only eliminate the output voltage distortions and it can also make the actual output voltage coincide with the desired one.The effectiveness of compensation method has been verified by passive R-L load experiments and low speed induction motor vector control experiments.
