Oil extraction from almond, apricot and rice bran by three‐phase partitioning after ultrasonication

Three-phase partitioning has been evaluated for extraction of oil from 3 different plant sources, namely almond, apricot and rice bran. After treatment of the slurries for 2, 4 and 6 min by ultrasonication followed by three-phase partitioning, 87, 77 and 88% (wt/wt) oil was extracted within 1 h. The process required simultaneous addition of t-butanol and ammonium sulphate to the slurries.
