Test ASIC for Real Time Estimation of Chip Temperature

The main goal of this paper is to present the design and operation of an ASIC, which will be used in the research devoted to the development of a real time temperature monitoring system. This circuit will serve two major purposes: gathering information necessary for the conception of sensor placement strategies and the elaboration of robust algorithms for the real time estimation of the circuit temperature as well as the practical verification of the developed solutions. The first part of this paper will be devoted to the detailed description of the entire ASIC design whereas the second part will present the operation of the circuit based on the computer simulations. The main aspects of proper layout preparation are also included.
