This study examines the relationship between MNC knowledge, expatriate staffing practices, and subsidiary performance. We found that the expatriate ratio moderates the effect of firm knowledge on subsidiary performance. Moreover, the patterns of the moderating effect depend on knowledge type and subsidiary age.
