The invention provides a method for recovering brake energy of a hybrid electric vehicle, belongs to the technical field of hybrid electric vehicles, and solves the problem that the recovery efficiency of the conventional energy recovery system cannot be guaranteed. The method for recovering the brake energy of the hybrid electric vehicle comprises the following steps of: a, receiving and storingvarious data parameters through a complete vehicle controller; b, detecting positions of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal through the complete vehicle controller; c, making the vehicle enter a brake working state, and executing the steps d and e simultaneously; d, calculating the needed braking force; e, judging whether the energy recovery work can be performed; f, judging an actual workingcondition of the vehicle; and g, controlling a motor to recover energy through a motor controller according to the requirement of the complete vehicle controller. The invention has the advantages that: the method for recovering brake energy of the hybrid electric vehicle guarantees that a system on chip (SOC) cannot spill and calculates corresponding power generation torque aiming at different braking conditions; therefore, the recovered brake energy is maximized.
