Lightweight Design and Research for a New Type Crane Arm

A new type of similar-oval crane arm is presented in this paper.Based on the powerful finite element analysis software-ANSYS Workbench co-simulation platform,it has completed the parametric modeling,finite element analysis of the structure and the lightweight design of the arm by using the seamless interface of DM(Geometry Modeler),Mechanical(Structure Analysis)and DX(Optimization Design) module.Characterized by a high degree of nonlinearity,the structure of the crane arm is optimized via combining the response surface method based on the neural network with the MOGA(Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm)belong to the DX module,the weight of the crane arm has a significant reduction finally.This result which is reasonably practicable provides a reference method for engineering mechanism design including large-scale crane arm in the future.
