DETERMINANTS OF HEMATOPORPHYRIN‐CATALYZED PHOTOSENSITIZATION

Abstract Using murine leukemia L1210 cells in culture, determinants of photosensitization by hemato‐porphyrin were examined. Cells incubated for 10 min with a commercial preparation of hematopor‐phyrin rapidly accumulated protoporphyrin and vinyl‐hydroxyethyldeuteroporphyrin present as impurities. The resulting photosensitization appears to be mainly derived from the latter product.
