Configuring IPv6 Routers

Publisher Summary This chapter provides instructions for configuring IPv6 on Cisco 2611, Cisco 7200, Hitachi GR2000 series, and NEC IX5010 series routers. It describes the beta version of Cisco IPv6 support. Cisco 2611 router with two network interfaces is required for configuration. The design of the IPv6 network has the same physical topology as the IPv4 network. The necessary steps for configuring a Hitachi GR2000 series router to communicate over IPv6 are presented in the chapter. Many of the commonly used features of IPv6, including static neighbor discovery (NDP) configuration, address auto-configuration, ripng, BGP4+, and 6over4 tunneling are included to provide configuration and command reference. The information provided includes all the basic steps necessary to configure an NEC IX5010 router for IPv6. The configurations will enable users to communicate with both native IPv6 and tunneled IPv6 hosts. .
