Origination,harm and suppression of harmonics in ships electric power system

The use of new conception weapons and ships electric power propulsion technique improved the battle effectiveness and life-force of the ships,and also aggravated the harmonics pollution of the ships electric power system.The harmonics pollution reduced the economical operation and reliability of the ships.This paper discussed the structure and running characteristics of the ships electric power system,analyzed the causes of the harmonic's origination from generate electricity system,transmit electricity system and use electricity system,and described the harmonic's harm to the ships electric power system.Considering the characteristics of the ship harmonics suppression,the paper presented using the shunt active power filter(APF) to suppress the harmonics,and explained the principle and characteristics of the APF.Compared with the traditional harmonics suppression method,this proposed method has the virtue of quick response and better stability,and has better practical value and applied foreground.
