A novel wide-band CMOS current amplifying cell and its application in power supply current monitoring

A new wide-band current amplifying cell based on a modified current conveyor is implemented in 0.18 /spl mu/ CMOS technology process. The dc and the small-signal ac gains of the cell depend on transistor dimensions only. The cell transfer function for current, its input impedance, and transimpedance are analyzed, and the frequency compensation for optimization of the frequency response is provided. Finally, the cell is effectively employed in a proposed scheme for the high frequency power supply current monitoring. The gain-bandwidth product of the monitor is extended to 3.46 GHz with the low frequency current gain of 51 dB.
