A systematic statistical method was presented to determine the set of building design factors to minimize the building heating and cooling loads using the fractional factor design method of resolution V to consider important second order interactions. The dynamic simulation of building heating and cooling loads were performed, and the relations between the loads and the design factors were obtained statistically in a polynomial equation with which the global optimum condition was determined. The building thermal loads were found to decrease by 27.6% at the optimum condition. The optimum design was validated by the simulation results of the determined condition.
