Applications and educational uses of crane oscillation control

This paper discusses the impact of moving load to dynamic behavior of flexible construction of mega quayside container cranes, and focuses on the dynamic interaction between trolley and supporting structure caused by the moving load. The scope of the presented research is to give the basic principles of dynamics and mathematical modeling of mega quayside container cranes, as well as how to obtain dynamic response of the crane boom structure due to moving mass, as are deflections, bending moments, dynamic magnification factor and acceleration of moving mass in vertical direction.
