Lateral confinement in horizontal SOI slot waveguide structures

In this work, we present optimized rib-type and photonic crystal based horizontal slot waveguide structures which provide the possibility of electrical wiring while at the same time maintaining minimum mode volume for linear and nonlinear applications.
