Ion Sensor-Based Measurement Systems: Application to Combustion Monitoring in Gas Turbines

Ionic density measurement in the burning gases is one of the techniques used to obtain information about the combustion process in automotive engines. In this article, the possibility of using a similar approach for the combustion monitoring of gas turbine combustors is considered. In particular, the potentiality of this measurement technique is investigated by modeling the problem, and analyzing the data obtained in a preliminary set of measurements with different operative conditions.
