Analysis on Performance of the Beam-Column Node of Cellular Steel Frame

This paper researches on the static performance of the beam-column node of cellular steel frame to provide the reference data in the application of engineering.Through experimental study and finite element analysis,3 cellular beam-column nodes without holes in node domain and 1 solid abdominal beam-column node are compared. When the expansion ratio of the hexagon cellular beam-column node K is 1.5,the effects of the distanced from the center of the first hole on the beam to the outside flange of the column, and the distancee from the center of the first holes on the edge of the column to the flange of the beam,on failure mode and ultimate bearing capacity are studied. The research indicates that as for the beam-column node of cellular steel frame, the change of the parameter d will transform the damage of the node of cellular in node domain to the section damage of honeycomb holes in the beam.At the same time, the change of parameter e will avoid the shear failure happening on the beam-column node of cellular steel frame. It is suggested that the d and e should be 1.0 to 2.2 Hb and 1.5 to 2 Hc,respectively. At last, the changing of the value of d and e can fix the position of plastic hinge and avoid the brittle failure on node.
