A novel interleaved discontinuous-current-mode single-stage power-factor-correction technique with universal-line input

This paper presents a novel interleaved single-stage power-factor-correction (PFC) technique with universal-line input. To reduce the PFC inductor size, the boost inductor works in discontinuous-current-mode (DCM). To minimize the input EMI filter size and reduce switch current stress, two DCM interleaving paths are implemented within one single-stage PFC circuit. Analysis and comparison show the benefits of the proposed circuit. The experimental results of a 90-265 V/sub ac/ input, 5V/90A-output prototype are also provided.
