In UOWC systems: A combined PAPR reduction method by PTS approach based on improved particle swarm optimization

Abstract Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology is adopted in underwater optical wireless communication (UOWC) systems. In order to solve the problem of high PAPR in OFDM technology, we propose an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm combined with partial transmission sequences (PTS) algorithm to reduce the PAPR of UOWC system. By discretizing the particle position and adding an adaptive inertia factor, the best combination of phase factors can be found effectively. The analysis of simulation results shows that the algorithm has better robustness, lower computational complexity and better global convergence ability. Under the requirement of ensuring the bit error rate (BER) of underwater wireless optical transmission, it greatly reduces the PAPR and calculation complexity.
