Fire-Safe Cigarettes

“Smokers’ materials” (a term excluding matches and therefore meaning cigarettes essentially) are the most common cause of fire deaths in the industrialized West. The Association for Nonsmokers’ Rights (ANSR) very definitely does not endorse smoking, or any kind of smokers’ materials. Nevertheless, since it would be unrealistic to imagine that smoking might just disappear from society overnight, ANSR has been campaigning for some years for a change in the law to force tobacco manufacturers to make cigarettes which are less prone to cause fires (and consequent injuries and loss of life and property) than are the fire-prone cigarettes now generally on the market.
