Fast Taylor Weighted Least Squares Algorithm for Synchrophasor Estimation

This paper proposes a fast Taylor Weighted Least Squares (fast-TWLS) algorithm for accurate real-time synchrophasor estimation. It requires the calculation at runtime of only two Discrete Time Fourier Transforms (DTFTs) at nominal frequency and further few elementary arithmetic operations. The accuracies - as expressed by the Total Vector Error (TVE) - of the proposed fast-Twls algorithm and the real-valued TWLS algorithm recently proposed in the literature are compared to each other under several static and dynamic testing conditions suggested in the IEEE Standard C37.118.1-2011 for synchrophasor measurements for power systems.
