Air-Rail Network Design Based on Hub Capacity Allocation

In this paper,an air and railway inter-modal network based on hub capacity relocation is designed to solve the problem of hub airport capacity shortage. From the perspective of the airport, the best network topological structure could be obtained by genetic algorithm with the objective of maximizing passenger surplus under the constraint of different combinations of hub capacity allocation and high-speed rail line length.According to the analysis,by using 60% of the existing high-speed rail system capacity,as much as one million passenger trips can be accommodated to alleviate the current capacity shortage problem, thus proving the feasibility of using high-speed rail as substitution or complement to handle the feeder flights in support of the domestic capacity at hub airports.
