Hypertension in children.

: Recent data indicate that over the last decade the average blood pressure has risen among children. Evaluation involves a thorough history and physical examination. Primary or essential hypertension has multiple risk factors such as obesity and family positive history. Hypertension in children is currently recognised as an important health issue. Treatment includes weight loss, exercise and dietary modifications. Pharmacological treatment includes angiotensin converting enzymes (ACE) or beta blockers and diuretics.
