PDU test lab — Reliability evaluation of power distribution units

In this paper we present a test lab for the reliability evaluation of power distribution units. The presence of a dependable power distribution network is a fundamental prerequisite in the context of datacenter reliability. In addition to uninterruptable power supplies or transfer switches intelligent power distribution units are one of the critical components in the backend power path. Our mission is to investigate and test different PDU implementations with respect to their reliability as a trade-off between effectiveness and self energy consumption.
