An experimental comparison of neural classifiers with ‘traditional’ classifiers

The goal of this paper is to compare neural classifiers with simple statistical pattern recognition methods to obtain understanding of the capabilities and limitations of this new type of classifier. This comparison is based on a performance evaluation of seven real-world classification problems.
