RAILWAY EMBANKMENT SOIL STRENGTH CHARACTERISTICS IN DIRECTIONS VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL AND A CORRELATTION BETWEEN DIFFERENT SOUNDING TESTS

On a railway embankment, we perform soil exploration at many lattice-points of the slope, and analyze the soil strength relation between the Swedish weight sounding test, which is ordinarily used in railway survey and a dynamic cone penetration test, which is intended for slope investigation. Based on the results of the analysis, we propose a relation formula between the two tests. Also, we clarify the distribution characteristics of the soil strength in directions vertical and horizontal, and check the validity of one-point soil survey in a sounding test over an embankment slope using an auto-correlation coefficient along the slope surface.
