Dielectric breakdown in solids

The scope of this chapter is nearly the same as in previous years and concerns the deterioration and breakdown of solid insulation. The deterioration of solid insulation by partial discharges and the phenomena of “treeing” continue to be of great importance to workers in dielectrics research. Another problem of significance is the behavior of an insulator with regard to surface flashover under various conditions.
