The paper describes a mathematical procedure aimed at evaluating the heat flow and the transient variation of the wall temperature of a spherical vessel containing a liquified gas during exposure to thermal radiation. In fact in case of fire the vessel is subject to both overtemperatures and overpressures, which may lead to overheating and rupture of the wall.
