Managing logistics for mass customization: the new production frontier

Combining aspects of traditional manufacturing techniques, the topic of mass customization is being pursued in research and industry. With consumers demanding specialized products, firms are employing mass customization strategy, which has implications on the entire operations of an enterprise. This paper investigates presents an overview of mass customization enablers, success factors, strategies, and approaches. Exploring these issues leads to discussion on the influence of mass customization strategy, particularly for managing logistics in a supply chain.
