School Effectiveness in Taiwanese Vocational Education: A Multi-level Analysis

This paper estimates the impact of three types of qualitative difference in Taiwanese vocational schools on students' achievement institutional investment, student background and learning processes. This analysis is based on multi-level modelling, which is a new statistical technique developed by the Institute of Education, University of London. The results show that, within the three main types, some subgroups of the qualitative differences influence students' performance, but that student background has little effect on graduates compared with the other two main types of difference.
