Taking an Educational Psychology Service into the 1990s

Summary The paper is based upon a workshop run at the annual conference of the Association of Educational Psychologists. The content examines implications for the delivery of educational psychology services arising from implementation of the 1988 Education Reform Act, which is expected to introduce a more competitive and financial focus to the provision of education in the public sector. Possible outcomes for services are described. Emphasis is placed on services being pro‐active in addressing the acknowledged problems and opportunities that will evolve. Some ways of responding are illustrated through an account of one service's development plans and collated ideas from workshop participants.
