Further diversity in the Early Neolithic of the Southern Levant: A first look at the PPNA chipped stone tool assemblage from el-Hemmeh, Southern Jordan

Cette contribution presente l’analyse preliminaire d’un assemblage de pierres taillees provenant de niveaux dates du Neolithique preceramique A (PPNA) a el-Hemmeh, Jordanie du Sud. L’echantillon montre des affinites generales avec le materiel du PPNA decrit pour d’autres sites de la Jordanie du Sud, mais suggere egalement la presence de signes distinctifs au niveau typologique et technologique. Ces derniers incluent la presence d’au moins deux schemas operatoires, l’absence de pointes caracteristiques du PPNA et la predominance de la production de burins et d’outils manufactures a partir de chutes de burin. Il est propose que cet assemblage, avec ceux provenant d’autres sites du PPNA (WF16 et ZAD 2), indique un developpement culturel indigene pendant la fin du PPNA dans le sud de la Jordanie.
