Modeling and dynamic performance of a rotary power flow controller

A rotary power flow controller offers an attractive alternative to conventional phase-shifting transformers or power electronic devices for control of power flow in parallel paths. This paper describes the steady-state and dynamic modeling of a rotary power flow controller. The dynamic performance for a potential application on the Chubu Electric Power Company system is illustrated.
