More than half of those who work in manufacturing industry work in firms with less than 500 employees; one in five of the total actually work in firms employing less than 100 people, and there are more than a quarter of a million working in firms employing less than 25. The aim of this article is to show how the small firms could make, not only an effective contribution, but, given the will, a major and decisive contribution.
