Revisiting my personal decision about prostate‐specific antigen testing in 2005

Editorial Comment: Not every physician supports prostate cancer screening. Barry, a widely published internist on the subject of prostate cancer, lays out his arguments regarding why he has decided not to be screened at age 52. Those urologists who are convinced that prostate cancer testing is clearly beneficial should read this article to gain an alternative perspective. Evidence based medicine suggests that the debate surrounding PSA testing is far from resolved. However, if there is a benefit, it will most likely accrue to a man around age 52.
