Segmentation hiérarchique de maillage 3D à partir des dynamiques de contour

Mesh segmentation is a fundamental problem in computer graphics and has become an important component in many applications. This paper presents a new hierarchical mesh segmentation method based on watersheds, waterfalls and dynamics. The watershed transformation generates an initial partition composed by small patches; the dynamics provide a relevant height boundary information and the waterfalls build several segmentation levels. The waterfalls process allows building a merging tree which contains several segmentation schemes; so, a user can easily browse the different segmentation levels in order to select the best one.
