Circularly polarized tilted beam monopole antenna

In this paper, a novel microstrip line fed circularly polarized monopole antenna with steered radiation pattern characteristic is presented. Wide-band and circular polarization is achieved from the conventional monopole antenna with the combination of vertical stub and horizontal slit placed orthogonally in the ground plane. In the proposed configuration, the ground plane is shaped in such a way that, part of the ground plane extends to one side of the radiating element in order to generate steered radiation pattern. The simulated results show that the proposed antenna has a 3dB axial ratio of 680 MHz (4.4 - 5.07 GHz). The radiation pattern has a tilt of 50 degrees at 4.8GHz and the tilt varies from 42 to 50 degrees over the frequency band.
