Downstream pressure control: Calculation of the transfer function and optimization of control parameters leading to a new controller design

The transfer function and the block diagram of the downstream closed loop were calculated. This was based on the differential equation of the controlled system and on the analysis of the sensor, the controller, and the control valve. Since the relationship between the actual pumping speed and the opening angle of the control valve is indeed time variant but not linear, linearization of this transfer element became necessary. Subsequently, the leading and perturbating behavior of the closed loop control defined in this way was investigated. With that, it was possible to optimize the control parameters of the downstream closed loop control. These optimized parameters were confirmed by computer simulation and are the basis of a new optimized downstream pressure controller.
