Modeling of User Interaction Behaviors Using Petri Network and UML

Usually user interactions happen randomly, dynamically and concurrently. Petri network and UML(Unified Modeling Language) are two prevalent and powerful tools for the modeling of user interaction behaviors for the present. It makes an in-depth comparison between Petri network and UML,that is,Petri network is able to build quantitative model, and run dynamically, but it is not hierarchy model;UML can make complete full depiction of systems, but is not quantitatively. Based upon the above analysis it proposes it should make comprehensive use of them to model user interaction behaviors. Then,it gives the use case diagram, state diagram, activity diagram, sequence diagram, collaboration diagram and Petri network model of the password input and verify process for the ATM(Automatic Teller Machine) as a practical typical example. This way,the complete, perfect and qualitative models can be achieved. The case study is a typical application of Petri network combined with UML. Thus, the research results are of a considerable amount of meanings and can be applied in other relevant fields.
