A Cause Identification Report of Coast Guard Auxiliary SAR/Towing Interference Hazards.

The purpose of this report was to define the problem of interference by other vessels experienced by Coast Guard Auxiliarists while performing Search and Rescue (SAR) or towing operations. Seven Coast Guard Auxiliary Districts, selected for geographical representation as well as being the districts reporting most cases of interference, were surveyed. The questionnaire used elicited details of interference cases as well as details of cases not marred by interference. The results of the survey were tabulated and subjected to statistical analysis. Details of the analysis and findings of statistical significance are contained in the applicable sections of this report.
