Sensorless position detection of the planar switched reluctance motor using the current injection method

This paper proposes a position detection approach to achieve the sensorless control of the planar switched reluctance motor (PSRM) using the current injection method. The mechanical structure and mathematical model of the PSRM are first given. The principle of the sinusoidal current injection method is then clarified to detect the position of the sensorless PSRM. Furthermore, the selection of the amplitude and frequency of the sinusoidal current is theoretically analyzed. Additionally, the energized and injected phases are determined for the sensorless PSRM. The simulation is implemented in Simplorer and Maxwell. The effectiveness of the sensorless position detection is verified through the simulation results.
