LONG-RANGE PLANNING OF POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS: SECONDARY NETWORKS

This paper presents an optimization-based methodology for low-voltage distribution network design. The system is composed of three mathematical models: distribution transformer location, secondary feeder routing and transformer sizing, and primary-transformer interconnection. A heuristic solution approach calculates the actual total installation cost for an increasing number of transformers until the minimum cost solution that meets the forecast demand and problem constraints is attained. Results are compared with those obtained by using an empirical approach.
