Preliminary design of aero-engine intake acoustic liners by means of the multi-objective approach

In a nacelle project, the ability to in uence the nal characteristics of each subsystem, without signi cantly impacting cost, is highest at the start of the project and decreases as the project progresses towards its completion. In this view, the preliminary design of a nacelle subsystem is an important phase since within it the main driving parameters are assigned whereas, during subsequent phases, design changes may signi cantly impact the project. In this work, the preliminary design phase of acoustic liners is tackled by means of the multi-objective approach aiming at providing guidelines for a faster design process. Speci cally, a comparison between objective functions is provided and the bene ts of a sensitivity analysis to manufacturing tolerances within the multi-objective approach are showed.
